There's a particular kind of blue that reads like early morning — pale and soft near the shoulder, settling into a deeper, clearer sky blue by the hem. This kurti is built around that gradient, an ombre wash that shifts the whole garment from quiet to grounded without a single hard line. The embroidery follows the same restraint: a tonal Chikankari-style vine motif frames the keyhole neckline, structured and vertical, before opening into rows of small floral booti scattered through the body — each one finished with a soft gold centre point that catches light differently than the surrounding white thread. The cuffs pick up the same floral detail in miniature. Cut in pure mulmul cotton, the fabric keeps the whole piece breathable enough for daily wear, letting the colour shift and the embroidery both stay legible rather than competing. Sold as the kurti alone.

This kurti is made in pure mulmul cotton — a fine, lightweight, breathable cotton with a soft, slightly textured hand. Mulmul takes shade-dyed and ombre treatments particularly well, since its natural fibre absorbs colour gradation evenly rather than settling into visible bands or patches.

What this means for the wearer:

Highly breathable — well suited to warm-weather and extended daytime wear
Soft, matte finish that lets both the ombre colour shift and the embroidery detail read clearly
Naturally structured drape — holds shape without needing lining or stiffening
Softens further with wear and washing, which is characteristic of mulmul rather than a flaw
Best cared for with gentle washing, ideally separately given the dip-dye finish, and low-heat ironing

Since this listing is for the kurti only, styling suggestions below are pairing ideas — not included items.

As styled (Heritage-ready): Paired with matching ombre trousers and tan flat sandals, as shown, for a fully tonal, quiet look. Suited to daytime festivities, family gatherings, or any occasion that calls for Indian craft without full traditional dress-up.

Reinterpreted, contemporary routes:

With white or ivory straight trousers — a clean, neutral base that lets the blue ombre and embroidery read as the clear focal point.
With solid denim in a lighter wash — keeps the tonal blue story going in a more everyday register than the matching-set version.
With sage or cream trousers — pulled from Lunevi's core colour palette for a considered contrast that still stays within the brand's world.
With gold-tone jewellery — the small gold centre points in the embroidery give a natural cue to pick up warm-tone jewellery against the cool blue base, rather than silver.

Footwear: flat sandals or juttis for daywear; a low block heel for evening.

The embroidery on this kurti draws on Chikankari, the traditional embroidery style associated with Lucknow, known for its fine, disciplined stitchwork worked directly onto the base fabric — expressed here through a vertical yoke motif and scattered booti work through the body.

What's visible on this piece:

A vertical vine-and-floral motif at the yoke, worked in white/cream thread flanking the keyhole neckline — the most defined embroidery on the garment, framing rather than covering the chest
Scattered floral booti through the body and sleeves, each motif finished with a small gold-tone centre point, a detail that adds warmth against the cool blue ground
A floral border at the cuffs, echoing the booti in a smaller, more contained placement
Consistent embroidery density across both the lighter and darker halves of the ombre wash, keeping the pattern legible through the colour shift rather than fading with it

Booti work is one of Chikankari's most recognisable forms precisely because each motif is placed individually rather than repeated as a continuous pattern — visible here in the slightly irregular rhythm of the floral placement down the body, rather than a perfectly even grid.
