Cikankārī involves multiple processes. It starts with block printing of the design onto the fabric.

Chapai

The choice of blocks suggests the kind of stitches that may be incorporated for a particular piece and the placement of the blocks results in the final aesthetics of the design.

Rangai

Natural coloring of clothes and threads is done, extracts of flowers of leaves known as "pakka rang" is first prepared then both cloth and threads are dipped in color for a day to let cloth and thread gain color, then these are dried under natural sunlight.
