Some sets are assembled after the fact — a kurti paired with whatever trousers and dupatta happen to match. This one was clearly built as a whole. A warm, earthy brown runs through all three pieces: a kurta carrying tonal Chikankari floral embroidery concentrated at the yoke and easing into scattered leaf booti through the body, straight trousers picking up the same leaf motif at the hem, and a dupatta that shifts the story entirely — plain through the body, then closing in horizontal bands of gold foil striping before a dense, ornate foil border at each end. The contrast between the soft, textile-led embroidery on the kurta and the metallic shine of the dupatta gives the set two distinct textures within one earthy palette. Cut in a mulmul cotton-silk blend, the whole set carries a soft sheen and drape that neither pure cotton nor pure silk would give alone.

This set is made in a mulmul cotton-silk blend — a fabric that combines the breathability and soft matte texture of mulmul cotton with the subtle sheen and fluid drape that silk fibre content contributes. The result sits between the two: lighter and more casual than pure silk, with more visual richness and drape than plain cotton alone.

What this means for the wearer:

  • Breathable, with a softer sheen than pure cotton — comfortable for extended daytime wear while still reading as slightly more elevated
  • A fluid drape, particularly noticeable in the dupatta, that lets the foil border catch light and movement
  • Naturally structured on the kurta and trousers, holding shape without needing lining or stiffening
  • Best cared for with gentle washing and low-heat ironing

Since this is a complete set, styling here focuses on how to wear and accessorise the look rather than what separate pieces to pair it with.

As styled: Worn together with the dupatta draped over one shoulder, as shown, and finished with tan juttis, this reads as a complete, occasion-ready look suited to daytime festivities, family functions, or autumn/winter festive dressing where a warm, earthy palette feels seasonally right.

Ways to adjust the look:

  • Drape the dupatta differently — worn straight down the front rather than over one shoulder shifts the look toward a more formal, traditional register; draped loosely and asymmetrically feels more contemporary.
  • Swap in gold jewellery — jhumkas or a statement necklace would pick up the metallic foil work on the dupatta and tie the accessories to the outfit's existing gold detailing rather than introducing a new tone.
  • Layer a plain shawl or jacket over the kurta in cooler weather, keeping the dupatta as the featured accessory rather than a second layer.
  • For a dressier occasion, swap flat juttis for a low block heel, and consider a clutch in the same gold-foil family as the dupatta border.

Footwear: embellished flat juttis for daywear, as shown; a low heel for evening or more formal festive settings.

The kurta and trousers in this set carry Chikankari-style embroidery, worked in tonal thread that matches the fabric's own brown shade. The dupatta uses a separate technique — gold foil striping and border work — rather than embroidery, and the two are worth describing distinctly since they're different crafts serving different roles in the set.

What's visible on the kurta:

  • A dense floral motif at the yoke, worked in tonal thread and framing the keyhole neckline as the most concentrated embroidery on the garment
  • Scattered leaf-shaped booti placed individually through the body, thinning as they move toward the hem, in the slightly irregular rhythm typical of hand-guided Chikankari placement

What's visible on the trousers:

  • A matching leaf motif embroidered at the hem, echoing the booti from the kurta and tying the two pieces together visually

What's visible on the dupatta:

  • Horizontal gold foil stripes running across the body of the dupatta at intervals, alternating plain fabric with metallic banding
  • A dense, ornate gold foil border at each end, considerably more elaborate than the striping through the body, giving the dupatta a clear visual "finish line"
  • A scalloped or perforated trim edge along the border, adding a finished, considered detail beyond the foil work itself

Foil work is a print or heat-transfer technique rather than embroidery.

Top questions answered

This set is made in a mulmul cotton-silk blend — combining cotton's breathability with a soft, silk-influenced sheen and drape.

The kurta features tonal Chikankari-style embroidery — a dense floral motif at the yoke and scattered leaf booti through the body, echoed at the trouser hem.

No — the dupatta uses a different technique: horizontal gold foil striping through the body and a dense, ornate foil border at each end, rather than embroidery.

This is a complete three-piece set — the kurta, dupatta, and matching trousers are all included.

Foil detailing generally needs gentler handling than embroidery — avoid direct ironing on the foil areas and consider dry cleaning. Confirm exact care instructions from the product's care label.
