PRODUCT TYPE Kurti

An Anarkali silhouette earns its drama from movement, and this kurti is built to deliver it. A fitted bodice in dense, tonal Chikankari lattice work gathers at a defined waist seam into a full, flowing skirt — the kind of flare that catches light and motion the moment the wearer turns. The embroidery shifts register as it moves down the garment: geometric lattice and small leaf motifs at the bodice, opening into larger paisley-and-floral panels through the skirt, closed with a dense, ornate hem border. Sheer sleeves carry their own scattered leaf embroidery, finished with an embroidered cuff. Three delicate fabric bow-tie closures run down the front placket, a soft, considered detail against the geometry of the bodice. Cut in Georgette, the whole piece stays light despite the density of its embroidery, letting the anarkali flare move freely. Sold as the kurti alone.

This kurti is made in Georgette — a lightweight fabric with a fine crinkled texture and a naturally fluid drape. Georgette is particularly well suited to the Anarkali silhouette: its soft fall lets the gathered skirt hold volume and move freely, while still giving the dense embroidery at the bodice enough structure to read clearly.

What this means for the wearer:

  • Lightweight despite the fullness of the Anarkali skirt — the flare moves easily rather than pulling at the waist seam
  • Semi-sheer sleeves and a more opaque, embroidery-dense bodice and skirt — worth confirming lining details at the product-record level, particularly for the bodice
  • A soft yellow that holds the tonal white embroidery with clear contrast and definition
  • A delicate fabric best handled with gentle, low-heat care

Since this listing is for the kurti only, styling suggestions below are pairing ideas — not included items.

As styled (Heritage-ready): Paired with matching yellow straight trousers and embellished white juttis, as shown, for a fully tonal, festive-ready Anarkali look. Suited to daytime celebrations, mehndi functions, or any occasion where movement and volume are part of the appeal.

Reinterpreted, contemporary routes:

  • With white or ivory churidar-style trousers — a classic Anarkali pairing that lets the flare of the skirt read clearly against a fitted leg.
  • With straight-leg white trousers — a slightly more contemporary silhouette than the traditional churidar pairing, while keeping the tonal palette.
  • With gold jhumkas and bangles, as styled — warm gold jewellery complements the soft yellow and tonal white embroidery without competing with it.
  • With a contrast dupatta in sage, dusty rose, or ivory, draped simply, for occasions that call for a more complete traditional look.

Footwear: embellished juttis or flats for daywear; a low heel for evening.

The embroidery on this kurti draws on Chikankari, the traditional embroidery style associated with Lucknow, worked here in a tonal white-on-yellow palette across two distinct zones of the Anarkali silhouette.

What's visible on this piece:

  • A dense geometric lattice pattern at the bodice, interspersed with small leaf motifs, giving the fitted upper body the most concentrated embroidery on the garment
  • Larger paisley-and-floral panels through the skirt, spaced vertically and growing more elaborate toward the hem
  • A dense, ornate border at the hem, combining paisley, floral and leaf motifs into a finished, statement-making edge — the most heavily worked section of the entire kurti
  • Scattered leaf motifs on the sheer sleeves, with an embroidered cuff border finishing each sleeve
  • Three fabric bow-tie closures at the front placket, a soft textile detail rather than embroidery, breaking up the geometric bodice pattern

The shift from tight geometric lattice at the bodice to looser, larger paisley motifs through the skirt is a considered design choice worth naming specifically — it gives the eye a sense of progression as it moves down the garment, rather than repeating one pattern uniformly from neckline to hem.
